Sherri Jordan

Ms. Jordan has over twenty-eight years of professional experience working in federal and local government financial management operations, specifically in the areas of financial systems operations. Currently, Ms. Jordan is the Director of the Financial Systems Division within the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Office of Finance’s Financial Operations Directorate. She directs and leads a division, consisting of 29 government and 35 contractors, with a $20M annual budget. She is responsible for ensuring CBP’s financial management/accounting systems and travel system operate effectively. From Dec. 2015 to April 2017; Ms. Jordan was also dual-hatted serving as the acting Program Manager/Executive lead for a $30 million Revenue Modernization program. She was responsible for establishing the Program Management Office, hiring key government staff and obtaining contractor support in order to complete key projects/pilots that improve CBP’s revenue collection process during FY 2016-17.

Prior to joining CBP, Ms. Jordan served as senior financial management systems specialist with the Dept. of Defense’s (DoD) Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)/Deputy Chief Financial Officer Office. She was responsible for advising senior leaders with recommendations on DoD business system investment decisions. Also, Ms. Jordan provided insight on how to improve DoD financial management business operations, by recommending process, systems and policy improvements.

From May 2010 to January 2012, Ms. Jordan served as a Branch Chief with the Department of Navy, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Financial Management & Comptroller, Financial Operations; were she supervised a staff responsible for providing financial management policy guidance and requirement analysis as it related to the implementation of a new Dept. of Navy business system (Navy ERP). She was instrumental in the implementation of the Navy ERP financial management system, to over 71,000 users, that managed 51% of the Dept. of Navy’s total obligation authority (~$65B).

A native of central Virginia, Ms. Jordan received her BS in Public Administration and Masters of Public Administration from George Mason University. A lifelong learner, Ms. Jordan completed a graduate certificate in Information Systems from Johns Hopkins University in 2006. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM). Ms. Jordan is a September 2014 Federal Executive Institute (FEI) graduate. She completed CBP Leadership Institute in May 2017.

Ms. Jordan has received the following honors and awards, Dept. of Defense Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service in November 2015, Dept. of Navy Meritorious Service Award August 2008, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Dept. of Navy Financial Management & Comptroller’s certificate of Achievement May 2009.

Ms. Jordan currently serves on the Fairfax County Airports Advisory Committee, 2008- present. Also, currently serves on the Alfred St. Baptist Church (ASBC) Board of Trustees. Previously, served as the ASBC budget committee as Vice-Chairman.
